Instructor: Kathryn Barr, DPT, OCS
Instructor Bio:
Kathryn Barr earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of St. Thomas in 2017, where she was also a member of the Women’s Hockey Team. During her athletic career, she was recognized as a three-time All-American, two-time MIAC Player of the Year, and an NCAA Women’s Hockey Player of the Year finalist. She went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from St. Catherine University in 2020 and completed the M Health Fairview Orthopedic Residency in 2021. Kathryn is now a clinical specialist at M Health Fairview Sports and Physical Therapy in Highland Park and serves as faculty and a primary mentor for the M Health Fairview Orthopedic Residency Program. She is passionate about treating lower extremity sports injuries and helping athletes return to peak performance.

- Understand common injuries associated with the game of hockey
- Demonstrate advanced exercises that address strength and performance deficits during late stage of rehabilitation
- examine the unique considerations influencing rehabilitation in the hockey athlete
- Background of rules and regulations (15 minutes)
- Etiology of injuries (10 minutes)
- Pathoanatomy of common hockey injuries (60 minutes)
- Advanced physical therapy treatment of common hockey injuries (30 minutes)
- Review of cases (5 minutes)
